Police rescue family and their pets from house fire
Officers arrived on the scene just before the fire department, and they reported visible smoke and flames.
An officer could find a ladder in the garage so officers could get to an upstairs window where the residents were at.
Officers climbed the ladder to get on the roof next to the window.
All of the residents and pets were rescued through the upstairs window by Oshkosh Police Department Officers along with the OFD.
Two police officers were transported to a local hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation and released back to work.
There is extensive damage to the home.
The family is displaced and is receiving assistance from The Red Cross.
There were no working smoke detectors, and the smell of smoke luckily awakened the mother.
