While many employers are dealing with
a widespread labor shortage, COVID cases have
surged amid the spread of the Omicron variant.
.
According to NBC News, David Barron,
a Houston-based employment attorney,
said that those shortages likely played a large role
in health care systems' decision to lift mandates.
.
Most employers do not have the luxury
of losing 5 percent or 10 percent or whatever
percent of their workforce doesnât want
to get vaccinated.
In this environment,
itâs very tough, especially in jobs
like health care or other industries
where itâs a very tight labor market, David Barron, a Houston-based employment attorney, via NBC News.

Last week, a judge issued a nationwide injunction
against the mandate for federal contractors.

Following the injunction, Amtrak and
General Electric both suspended
their employee mandates.
.
Meanwhile, Southwest Airlines has said that
it will monitor the lawsuits but will still require
employees to be vaccinated by January 4.

What we might end up with is a patchwork â red state, blue state â where some states, some cities have mandates, and then others donât â which is going to be a nightmare for large, multistate companies, David Barron, a Houston-based employment attorney, via NBC News
Hurricane Beryl is barreling towards the Texas coast, posing a grave threat to communities and industries. Originally a devastating Category 5 storm in the Caribbean, Beryl has regained strength as a Category 1 hurricane over warm Gulf waters, with forecasts suggesting it could reach Category 2 before landfall near Houston. Acting Governor Patrick has declared a state of emergency across 120 counties, prompting school closures and preemptive flight cancellations. Major oil ports in Corpus Christi, Galveston, and Houston are shut down, anticipating disruptions to oil exports and refinery operations. As coastal towns prepare for Beryl's impact, emergency responders urge residents to heed evacuation orders due to potential power outages and severe flooding. Stay updated on this developing situation with our coverage.
