Canada: State of emergency in Ottawa over 'Freedom Convoy' | DW News

Canada's capital city has declared a state of emergency.

Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson says a blockade by truck drivers is threatening the safety and security of residents.

Their 'Freedom Convoy' protest began after they were told they needed to get vaccinated against COVID-19 to be able to cross the US border.

But it has gathered wider support.
