By 23 March, more than 10 million people had been forced to flee their homes due to war in Ukraine, many displaced inside the country and more than 3.5 million as refugees abroad.
Within three weeks, more than two million refugees from Ukraine have arrived in Poland.
The decision caps a weekend during which the country's two largest parties announced their candidates for an election that will decide the successor to incumbent President Andrzej Duda, whose second and final term ends in August 2025.

Cabinet Office minister Pat McFadden has said the UK and its NATO allies will not be intimidated by Russian cyberthreats into stopping supporting Ukraine.
