US President Donald Trump has refused to guarantee American military support for British troops if the UK deploys forces to Ukraine as part of a potential peace deal with Russia. During his White House meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump said the British military is strong enough to handle itself. This comes after French President Emmanuel Macron also failed to secure US security guarantees for Ukraine. Russia has warned that foreign peacekeepers without a UN mandate would be considered legitimate targets, further escalating tensions in the ongoing conflict.

Trump Praises Zelensky Ahead Of Talks | US President Donald Trump commended Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, calling him "very brave" ahead of their White House meeting. When asked about his past remark calling Zelensky a "dictator," Trump appeared surprised, saying he didn’t recall saying it. Their discussions will center on securing peace between Russia and Ukraine and finalizing a US-Ukraine rare earth deal. Trump believes US mining operations in Ukraine could act as a deterrent to future Russian aggression. Meanwhile, UK PM Keir Starmer backed a peacekeeping force, but only if NATO provided a security backstop.
