The state seeks to be able to get cheaper prescription drugs from the country's neighbors up north to treat a variety of illnesses.

In 2021, President Biden issued an executive order directing the FDA to get the program going.

DeSantis had hoped Biden's support would get the FDA to approve Flordia's application, but nothing ever happened.
