CNN reports that next year's Met Gala theme will be in celebration of the late Karl Lagerfeld.

The German fashion designer died at the age of 85 in 2019.

The theme of the gala coincides with a Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute exhibition titled 'Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.'.

According to the Met, 150 designs will be included in the show to "explore the designer's stylistic language.".

Items from Lagerfeld's time with Fendi, Chloé, Chanel, Balmain, Patou and his own label will be on display.

The exhibition will be open to the public from May to mid-July.
