525 Just Stop Oil Activists Arrested Protesting New Fossil Fuel Projects

Just Stop Oil activists in London sprayed the high-end department store Harrods bright orange in a protest on October 20, demanding that the UK stop licensing oil and gas projects.

The group also blocked traffic nearby, with some activists gluing themselves to the road and others locking themselves together.

Just Stop Oil has staged multiple civil disobedience protests around London in the past 2 weeks, leading to 525 arrests.

The group said in a press release, ‘This is not a one day event, expect us every day and anywhere.

This is an act of resistance against a criminal government and their genocidal death project.

Our supporters will be returning — today, tomorrow and the next day — and the next day after that — and every day until our demand is met: no new oil and gas in the UK.’ Cameron Ford, a spokesperson for Just Stop Oil, recently responded to a new bill that would create tougher punishments for activists who use civil disobedience tactics and said, ‘Until they put the death sentence as the repercussions for what we’re doing, it won’t deter us.
