On November 2, the North Korea launched the highest number of short-range missiles in a day, further escalating tensions in the region.

CNN reports that the South Korean Defense Ministry said North Korea fired 23 missiles to the east and west of the Korean Peninsula.

According to Seoul's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), one of the missiles landed close to South Korean territorial waters for the first time since 1945.

JCS said a short-range ballistic missile landed just 104 miles northwest of South Korea's Ulleung island.
