Following the tragic incident in Old Rajinder Nagar, where three students lost their lives due to flooding in a basement coaching centre, Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi has taken swift action. She reported that upon receiving news of the incident, she promptly visited the site and assessed the situation. In response, Mayor Oberoi has written to the MCD Commissioner, urging action against all illegal coaching centres in Delhi. This has resulted in a sealing drive in Rajinder Nagar, where 13 coaching centres were shut down, and an additional 6 were sealed today. A similar drive also took place in Mukherjee Nagar. Furthermore, a Junior Engineer was terminated and an Assistant Engineer was suspended as part of the crackdown on non-compliant institutions. The Mayor emphasised that no illegally operating coaching centre will be spared.
