Acts 16:31
Acts 16:31
Acts 16:31 states, "They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household." This verse is from the account of Paul and Silas preaching in the city of Philippi.
They have been arrested and beaten for preaching the word of God, but instead of complaining, they start singing and praising God in their prison cell.
The jailer, who was responsible for their safety, was deeply moved by their faith, he asked them how he can be saved, and they replied with this verse, telling him that if he believes in Jesus as Lord, he will be saved.
This verse is a summary of the message of the gospel and a statement of the central belief of Christianity, that salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ.
