hacker attempted to sell the stolen data and also
made an attempt to extort the healthcare provider.

claimed to have stolen 27.7 million records
and gave the company a July 11 deadline.
Following news of the hack, HCA said that it
would offer credit monitoring and identity theft
protection, while cautioning patients to be on guard.

Consumers are being advised to
return the affected product for a refund. .

People who consume listeria can
develop listeriosis, which ranges in
severity and can last up to several weeks.
Symptoms include "fever, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea," Fox News reports.
Serious cases can result in "headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions," Fox News reports.
The bacterial infection can be fatal in
children and other susceptible people.
