How about a side-scrolling platformer where you play as an Opossum Knight wielding a rocket pack and an energy throwing sword?
Sparkster must rescue the kidnapped princess and defeat the evil pig/robot army.
Rocket Knight Adventures (1993) is one of my favorite SEGA games and one of the first games I ever remember playing.
I highly recommend.
