Typhoon Doksuri continues to batter China; Warning for another storm Khanun issued I Oneindia News
Beijing has recorded its heaviest rainfall this year as the remnants of Typhoon Doksuri passed through China’s capital, forcing more than 31,000 people to evacuate their homes in the city.
Heavy rain continued to fall in Beijing as well as in Hebei, Tianjin and eastern Shanxi as Doksuri dissipated over northern China, the China Meteorological Administration said.
The storm has been felt in China since Friday , first hitting the southern Fujian province with heavy rainfall .
China's meteorological agency warned that Doksuri's impact was far from over despite the reduced intensity.
The heavy torrential rainfall had forced authorities to issue the highest level of alert in northern China, covering millions of people.
The alert included 22 million people in Beijing and 14 million in Tianjin.
This is the first time such a heavy rainfall warning has been issued since 2011.
Trump has doubled down on his support for tariffs, calling them the "greatest thing" America has ever done. Speaking aboard Air Force One, Trump claimed that tariffs will "make the U.S. rich again" while auto companies are opening new plants due to his policies. However, he refused to rule out a potential recession when pressed in a Fox News interview. The remarks come as the U.S. imposes steep new tariffs on Chinese, Canadian, and Mexican imports, while Beijing retaliates with fresh taxes on American agricultural goods

China has accused the US of pursuing “two-faced” policies, slamming Washington for imposing tariffs despite Beijing’s efforts to cooperate on global issues. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi warned that China will “resolutely counter” pressure as tensions escalate. In response, China has imposed its own tariffs on US goods and taken the dispute to the WTO. The trade war, which began in 2018 under Trump, continues to disrupt global markets. Beijing insists it won’t tolerate suppression while Washington cites concerns over trade imbalances and fentanyl flows.

China and Russia will continue promoting the “correct view” of World War II history, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said. He emphasized both nations' sacrifices in defeating fascism and vowed to defend the global order led by the UN. Wang hailed China-Russia ties as “tenacious” and not influenced by external forces. With the 80th anniversary of WWII’s end approaching in 2025, Beijing and Moscow aim to counter historical distortions. Russia has criticized the West’s alleged attempts to rewrite history, particularly regarding the Soviet Union’s role in Nazi Germany’s defeat.
