Manipur violence completes 3 months, Kuki tribal forum plans mass burial of bodies | Oneindia News
The Manipur police on Wednesday sounded a high alert and stepped up security in different parts of the state after the ITLF announced that it would hold a mass burial ceremony on Thursday of the 35 people who died in the ethnic clashes.
This comes as Manipur violence completes 3 months.
The mass burial would take place following a programme to pay tributes to the deceased in the Peace Ground at Tuibuong and also in Churachandpur.
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has criticized the government's handling of the Manipur issue, saying the state has been waiting for peace for a year and violence needs to be stopped on priority. He expressed anger over the Kuki-Meitei divide, stating that India has made strides in various fields, but has not overcome all challenges. Bhagwat also slammed the negative political campaigning during elections, hinting at potential differences between the RSS and BJP over certain issues.
