A delegation from West Africa’s regional bloc ECOWAS met Niger’s ousted president Mohamed Bazoum and held talks with junta leader General Abdourahmane Tchiani.
The military ruler has proposed a return to democracy within three years.
A tragic accident in Niger state, Nigeria, claimed at least 48 lives when a fuel tanker collided with a truck, leading to a massive explosion. The tanker, carrying gasoline and cattle, set two other vehicles on fire, with 50 cattle burned alive. Authorities recovered 48 bodies and conducted a mass burial. This incident highlights Nigeria’s road safety issues, exacerbated by a lack of railway systems for cargo transportation, contributing to frequent fatal accidents.
