Rishi Sunak has insisted he has made clear to China that the UK will not tolerate attempts to undermine its democracy, following allegations of spying at the heart of Parliament.

Speaking in the House of Commons, the prime minister said: “We will defend our democracy and our security…I have been emphatically clear in our engagement with China that we will not accept any interference in our democracy and parliamentary system.” Report by Buseld.
