Sunak: We will not accept interference in our democracy
Rishi Sunak has insisted he has made clear to China that the UK will not tolerate attempts to undermine its democracy, following allegations of spying at the heart of Parliament.
Speaking in the House of Commons, the prime minister said: “We will defend our democracy and our security…I have been emphatically clear in our engagement with China that we will not accept any interference in our democracy and parliamentary system.” Report by Buseld.

Leader of the House of Commons Lucy Powell has condemned the "horrific attack" on former president Donald Trump which saw him get shot at during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. Gareth Southgate has resigned as manager of the England men’s national football team after almost eight years at the helm. It comes just two days after England’s defeat to Spain in the final of Euro 2024. Despite that disappointment, Southgate has taken the Three Lions to two European Championship finals and a World Cup semi-final during his time in charge. Prince William, President of the Football Association (FA), tweeted his thanks to Southgate for his leadership.
