Street sweeper Paul Spiers says he is “over the moon” after getting the go-ahead to be able to take a holiday to Portugal, funded by local residents in Beckenham, southeast London. Paul is so popular locals set up an online fundraiser to raise money to send him on a trip abroad for his birthday. 49-year-old Trevor Lloyd, who was part of a mob that stormed a hotel housing asylum seekers during rioting in Rotherham has been jailed for three years. The Recorder of Sheffield, Judge Jeremy Richardson KC - who has already sentenced several people in connection with the Rotherham incident - said “you were part of a violent mob, and you were playing your part to the full".
