The earthquake's epicenter, located near the Nepal border, rocked remote Himalayan villages and the holy city of Shigatse, around 180 km away. Tremors were felt in neighboring Nepal, Bhutan, and parts of northern India. Over 1,000 homes were damaged, and many areas have become inaccessible due to collapsed buildings and landslides. Rescue operations are underway, with over 200 soldiers deployed and 1,500 more on standby. Despite the ongoing efforts, aftershocks continue, complicating rescue efforts.
