French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin announced on Friday (Dec 29) that his government plans to enhance security measures for New Year celebrations in France due to a 'very high' terror threat, according to Reuters.
Speaking to reporters, Minister Darmanin emphasised a robust mobilisation of police and gendarmerie services, citing a heightened terrorist threat linked to events in Israel and Palestine.
He called for the deployment of over 90,000 police and gendarmes, along with 5,000 soldiers from Operation Sentinelle.
In a shocking revelation, the Israeli Ministry of Military Affairs reports that over 10,000 Israeli forces have been affected by trauma in the ongoing Gaza conflict. The report highlights severe physical injuries, with 37% of troops suffering from limb trauma and 35% diagnosed with PTSD. Since the war began on October 7 last year, more than 300 Israeli forces have died. This escalation, which began as a response to the al-Aqsa Storm operation by Gazaâs resistance groups, has led to nearly 40,000 Palestinian deaths, predominantly women and children. At least six people have been killed and several are feared trapped after massive landslides hit Wayanad in the early hours today as heavy rainfall continued in Kerala.
250 members of the Fire and Rescue, Civil Defence, NDRF, and Local Emergency Response Teams are involved in the rescue operation. An additional team of NDRF has been directed to reach the spot immediately, the officials said.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan assured all possible rescue operations to be coordinated in the landslides in Wayanad.
