In the lead-up to the grand consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, which is expected to witness the presence of top leaders, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Jitendra Awhad has sparked controversy with his statement suggesting that "Lord Ram was a non-vegetarian." Mr. Awhad, affiliated with the Sharad Pawar faction of the NCP, made this remark during an event held in Shirdi, Maharashtra, on Wednesday.
The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance in Maharashtra, comprising Shiv Sena, Congress, and NCP, finalized seat-sharing for all 48 Lok Sabha constituencies. With Shiv Sena contesting 21 seats, Congress 17, and NCP 10, the coalition aims to bolster opposition unity against the ruling BJP ahead of the upcoming elections.
