A high-ranking Russian official claimed that Ukrainian military intelligence had received a 15-minute advance notice before a Russian military transport plane, transporting Ukrainian prisoners of war, was shot down in the Belgorod region of Russia on Wednesday.
Moscow alleges that Kyiv is responsible for downing the Ilyushin Il-76 plane, resulting in the tragic loss of all 74 individuals on board, including 65 Ukrainian soldiers destined for a swap with Russian prisoners of war.
While Ukraine has not officially acknowledged or refuted this claim, it has called for an international investigation into the incident.
A Russian drone attack on Sumy, northeastern Ukraine, killed two people and injured 12 others on Friday morning, officials report. Residential buildings, cars, and a shop were damaged in the strikes. Rescuers saved two from rubble as prosecutors launched a war crimes investigation.
