In a tragic turn of events, Abhishek Ghosalkar, son of a prominent Shiv Sena (UBT) leader, was shot dead during a Facebook live session earlier today.
The assailant, identified as Mauris Noronha, then turned the gun on himself.
Known as 'Mauris bhai' in Borivali, Noronha portrayed himself on social media as an award-winning social worker, a Covid warrior, and a philanthropist.
He had gained popularity for organizing community events, including a planned trip to the Infant Jesus shrine in Nashik for local residents, scheduled for February 10.

The 18 th Lok Sabha witnessed a rare contest for the Speaker post on Wednesday between the Bharatiya Janata Partyâs Om Birla and Kodikunnil Suresh of the Congress after the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government and the INDIA group of Opposition parties failed to arrive at a consensus. Prime Minister Narendra Modi moved the motion to elect Mr. Birla as the Lok Sabha Speaker on Wednesday. The motion to appoint Mr. Suresh as the Speaker was moved by Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant.
