The Lost Bass search project was launched by Höfner last year in an attempt to find McCartney's guitar, BBC reports.

A family in Sussex contacted the search team after they remembered that they had an old bass in their attic.

The bass turned out to be McCartney's, and he was reunited with it in December, BBC reports.

Following the launch of last year's Lost Bass project, Paul's 1961 Höfner 500/1 bass guitar, which was stolen in 1972, has been returned, Spokesperson for Paul McCartney, via BBC.
