Rishi Sunak refuses to repeat allegations made by Kemi Badenoch earlier this week, that ex-Post Office boss Henry Staunton was lying.
During Prime Minister’s Questions, the Labour Leader said: “Would the Prime Minister be prepared personally to repeat the allegations made by his Business Secretary, that the former chair of the Post Office is lying when he says he was told to go slow on compensation for postmasters and limp to the next election?” The Prime Minister responded by saying the government has taken "unprecedented steps" to support victims of the scandal.

Angela van den Bogerd, a former senior director at the Post Office, arrived at the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry on Thursday morning. She began with an apology on the first of her two days of giving evidence, telling the inquiry she was "truly, truly sorry" for the "devastation" caused to wrongly convicted sub-postmasters and their families. Errors in the Post Office's Horizon IT system meant money appeared to be missing from many branch accounts when, in fact, it was not. The neighbour of a woman who was mauled to death by XL Bully dogs, says she never saw muzzled dogs anywhere on the estate. Aimee Marston said "We've never ever seen an XL Bully. If they were registered, we would have seen muzzled dogs but I've got two ex-racing greyhounds and we walk them all the time and we never ever see muzzled dogs on the estate." The first victims of the infected blood scandal will receive their final compensation payment before the end of the year, minister John Glen has said. In a statement delivered to the House of Commons, Mr Glen said the payments would be exempt from income, capital gains, and inheritance tax.
