GUEST 1 OVERVIEW: Maxime Bernier is leader of The People's Party of Canada which was launched by on 14 September 2018, and officially recognized by Elections Canada on 18 January 2019.

Maxime Bernier worked for 19 years in the private sector, mostly in insurance, banking and financial regulation, before he was elected as a Conservative Member of the Canadian Parliament in 2016.

He was Minister of Industry, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Minister of State for Small Business and Tourism in the Harper government.

In 2018, he left the Conservative Party, which he considered "morally and intellectually corrupt", and founded the People's Party of Canada, which promotes a principled conservative, libertarian and populist platform.

Bernier was the only federal party leader opposed to the COVID hysteria during the past two years.

The PPC has been growing in popularity since it launch and garnered 5 percent of the national vote in the 2021 general elections, although it failed to elect MPs.
