Israel heads to municipal elections amid ongoing war in the north and south | Oneindia News
Israel initiated its municipal elections on Tuesday morning, marking a significant moment amid the ongoing conflicts with Hamas and Hezbollah.
Originally slated for October 31, 2023, the election had to be postponed twice due to the escalating hostilities with Hamas in Gaza and the mounting tensions with Hezbollah along the northern border.
This delay marked only the third instance in Israel's history where municipal elections were deferred, following similar postponements during the Yom Kippur War in 1973 and the First Lebanon War in 1982.
The warrants for the Israeli prime minister and former defence minister pertain to crimes against humanity and war crimes. The ICC did not disclose Deif's warrant of arrest, stating it was a "secret".
