The Maldives and China have entered a new chapter in their bilateral relations.
Amid a brewing diplomatic dispute with India, the Maldives has turned to China for support.
Earlier this week, a defence cooperation agreement was signed between Beijing and Male, solidifying the commitment to enhanced bilateral ties through free military assistance.
Taiwan detected 37 Chinese military aircraft, including fighter jets and drones, near its airspace, with 35 crossing the median line of the Taiwan Strait. In response, Taiwan deployed aircraft, naval vessels, and shore-based missiles. The incident follows recent Chinese military drills and heightened defense patrols. China frames these maneuvers as defense measures, raising tensions as Beijing views Taiwan as a breakaway province, intensifying regional concerns over potential conflict.

In a groundbreaking move, Beijing has successfully launched an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) into the Pacific Ocean for the first time since 1980. This "routine" test, which China claims is not directed at any specific country, marks a significant shift in its military capabilities and strategy. Analysts suggest the missile is likely a Dong Feng-41, capable of reaching up to 15,000 kilometers. The launch has raised concerns among neighboring nations, highlighting China's growing assertiveness on the global stage.
