U.S on Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest: U.S encourages ‘fair, transparent’ legal process | Oneindia
Arvind Kejriwal's arrest is being monitored by the United States government, which has encouraged the Indian government to ensure "a fair, transparent, and timely legal process" for the jailed Delhi Chief Minister and opposition leader, as stated by a State Department spokesperson.
The response from the US comes after the Foreign Office of Germany emphasised that the Aam Aadmi Party leader, like any other Indian citizen facing charges, is entitled to a fair and impartial trial.
On April 28, the Election Commission of India (ECI) directed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to revise the content of its Lok Sabha campaign song to adhere to the Advertising Codes outlined in the Cable Television Network Rules, 1994, and ECI guidelines. The AAP was requested to make necessary modifications to the song and resubmit it for certification. “The phrase “jail ke jawaab me hum vote denge” showing an aggressive mob holding the photo of Arvind Kejriwal showing him behind bars, casts aspersions on the Judiciary. Further, the said phrase appears several times in the advertisement which contravenes the provisions of ECI Guidelines and Rule 6(1(g) of Programme and Advertising Codes prescribed under the Cable Television Network Rules, 1994” (DISPLAY) said ECI.
