Russia-Ukraine War: Russia attacks Ukraine with 13 drones, Ukrainian air force chief says | Oneindia
On Wednesday, Ukraine's air force chief reported that Russia had launched 13 Shahed drones overnight, with 10 being successfully intercepted and downed in the Kharkiv, Sumy, and Kyiv regions.
Mykola Oleshchuk stated that various defence mechanisms, including anti-aircraft missile units and electronic warfare equipment, were deployed to repel the air attack.
Ukraineās top commander, Aleksandr Syrsky, is reportedly ready to lay down arms and capitulate to Russia, according to a claim made by a lawmaker from President Vladimir Zelenskyās party. The claim was made by MP Mariana Bezuglaya from the āServant of the Peopleā party, who is also the deputy chair of the National Security, Defense, and Intelligence Committee.
Syrsky, who became Ukraineās highest-ranking general in early February, succeeded Valery Zaluzhny, the former general who oversaw last yearās unsuccessful attempts to repel Russian forces. Bezuglaya accused Syrsky and Zaluzhny of secretly colluding to prevent a Ukrainian victory, stating that the two generals belong to a āgeneralsā mafiaā that is more interested in protecting their own privileges than in defeating Russia.

Russian forces have made significant progress in the villages of Evgenovka, Novgorodskoye, Timofeeva, Sokol, and Toretsk, repelling five Ukrainian counterattacks in the region. Over 400 Ukrainian troops and several units of hardware, including a U.S.-sent Bradley Fighting Vehicle, MaxxPro Vehicle, and an M777 Howitzer, were reportedly lost during the fighting in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) within 24 hours. Since capturing the town of Avdeevka in February, a major Ukrainian stronghold near Donetsk, Russian forces have reduced Kyiv troops' ability to shell the city and have steadily advanced in the DPR and other areas, including Ukraine's Kharkiv region, taking control of several settlements.
