On Monday, the Election Commission issued reprimands to BJP leader Dilip Ghosh and Congress leader Supriya Shrinate for their comments concerning West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and actor Kangana Ranaut, respectively.
âThe Commission, in its order today after the receipt of their replies to notices issued to them over MCC violations, said they are convinced that they made a low-level personal attack and thus violated the provisions of Model Code of Conduct.
They have been warned to remain careful in public utterances during the Model Code of Conduct periodâ an EC source said.
The Election Commission had on March 27 issued show-cause notices to Ghosh and Shrinate, finding that both had prima facie violated the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

Congress leader Supriya Shrinate has called for the immediate removal of Amit Malviya, head of the BJP IT Cell, following serious allegations of exploitation. Shrinate highlighted accusations made by Shantanu Sinha, an RSS member linked to BJP leader Rahul Sinha, who claimed Malviya was involved in nefarious activities, including the exploitation of women in 5-star hotels and BJP offices in West Bengal. Emphasising the gravity of the charges, Shrinate insisted that justice for the women involved is paramount and that an independent inquiry is only possible if Malviya is removed from his influential position.
