Dr Hilary Cass says children are being let down

A new report by paediatrician Dr Hilary Cass has found that there is "remarkably weak evidence" to support gender treatments for children.

Dr Hilary Cass said poor mental health and social media have had a major impact on gender identity amongst young people.

"We've got significant increases in poor mental health amongst young people, particularly amongst girls.

Also there are more neurodiverse young people in this cohort," she added.

The Cass Review, published on Wednesday by paediatrician Dr Hilary Cass, calls for gender services for young people to match the standards of other NHS care.
