The United Arab Emirates witnessed an unprecedented deluge, marking its most substantial rainfall on record since 1949.
Described as a "historic weather event" by the state-run WAM news agency, the widespread downpour across the UAE is attributed to a combination of factors, including cloud seeding initiatives.
Significant disruptions have been reported in flights from India to Dubai due to heavy rains causing flooding at the emirate's airport, one of the world's busiest.
Air India, operating 72 weekly flights from multiple Indian cities to Dubai, alongside IndiGo, have cancelled their services on Wednesday.
Other carriers, including Air India Express, Vistara, and SpiceJet, which also serve various Indian cities to Dubai routes, have been affected as well.
Dubai, hosting a substantial Indian diaspora, sees these flight cancellations impacting travel plans and connections for many.
In a major development, Hamas says it is ready to release all Israeli hostages if a deal can be reached to end the war in Gaza. Senior official Taher Al-Nunu stated that the group seeks a serious prisoner swap, a full Israeli military withdrawal, and unrestricted humanitarian aid. Talks are ongoing in Cairo with mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and the U.S. involved. However, Hamas accuses Israel of stalling negotiations by refusing to commit to a sustainable ceasefire plan. The proposal now includes phased releases backed by U.S. guarantees.
