The Vote Heard Around The World
In two ways, the vote of Thursday at the United Nations was momentous.
On the one hand, the 140 nations that have already recognized Palestine, representing billions of people, and represented by members of the UN Security Council, endorsed Palestine’s call for UN membership.
On the other hand, the United States disgraced the legacy of the American Revolution by voting against seating Palestine.
What must the American citizenry do now—what more can the world do—as the United States Congress convenes to ram through tens of billions of dollars for Ukraine, Israel, and a new pre-war on China, and as the flashpoints for thermonuclear war increase?
