California student's speech censored by school principal?

A middle school student at a Catholic school running for “Commissioner of School Spirit & Patriotism" has allegedly been censored by the principal.

They reportedly made him change his speech and remove all mention of patriotism.

How odd when considering the position includes the word patriotism!
