German Defence Minister announces €500 million military support package for Ukraine
Russia launched a fresh offensive in Kharkiv earlier this month and Ukrainian military commanders reported a renewed build-up of Russian troops in the north of the region on Thursday.

German are set to vote for their next leader on Sunday in the country’s snap federal election. The election is expected to feature a high voter turnout with incumbent Chancellor Olaf Scholz up against a considerable opposition from the CDU and far-right AfD parties.

A deadly knife attackrocked eastern France, leaving one civilian dead and several police officers injured.
