Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi was re-elected as the Chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) on Saturday.

The decision, proposed by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and seconded by Gaurav Gogoi and Tariq Anwar, was unanimously approved by the MPs in the Central Hall of Parliament.

In her address, Sonia Gandhi urged party MPs to be "watchful, vigilant, and proactive" in Parliament.

She stressed the need to hold the new NDA government accountable, prevent the ruling establishment from disrupting parliamentary proceedings, and ensure proper debate and consideration of legislation.

Chaos In South Korea: President Yoon Arrested Again | Political Crisis Deepens with His Detention

South Korea's impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol was arrested on January 15, 2025, after a failed martial law attempt. This historic event marks the first time a sitting president in South Korea has faced arrest. The arrest follows a tense standoff with investigators who raided the presidential residence. Yoon's attempted power grab, including directing soldiers to storm Parliament, led to charges of insurrection. Despite a previous failed arrest attempt on January 3, Yoon voluntarily agreed to appear before investigators before being detained. His arrest escalates South Korea's political crisis and tensions with his supporters. #YoonSukYeol #SouthKorea #PresidentArrested #MartialLawAttempt #PoliticalCrisis #InsurrectionCharges #PresidentialImpeachment #CorruptionInvestigation #SouthKoreanPolitics #HistoricArrest #Oneindia #OneindiaNews Also Read Amid High Drama, South Korea’s Impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol Arrested :: https://www.oneindia.com/international/amid-high-drama-south-korea-s-impeached-president-yoon-suk-yeol-arrested-011-4042671.html?ref=DMDesc Police Engage in Standoff with Guards at Impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol's Residence in Seoul :: https://www.oneindia.com/international/police-standoff-guards-impeached-president-yoon-residence-011-4042621.html?ref=DMDesc Impeached South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol Getting A Pay Hike In 2025- Here's Why :: https://www.oneindia.com/international/impeached-south-korean-president-yoon-suk-yeol-getting-a-pay-hike-in-2025-heres-why-4041271.html?ref=DMDesc ~HT.318~PR.362~ED.346~
