Policing minister Chris Philp has defended Rishi Sunak after he came under fire for leaving Thursday's D-Day events early.
"He should have attended the event and he acknowledged that himself, he acknowledged it immediately and apologised fulsomely the following morning," Mr Philp said.

It comes as the daughter of the late Sir David Amess, a Conservative MP who was murdered during a constitutency surgery in 2021, said she believes the Southport attacks may not have happened if there had been a full public inquiry into her father's death three years ago.
