Lib Dems hope to rejoin European single market ‘one day’
Liberal Democrat deputy leader Daisy Cooper says the party has a plan to get “the UK back in the heart of Europe” and hope to rejoin the European single market “one day”.

Lib Dem leader Sir Ed Davey has called for quicker action on social care reforms. It comes as the Health Secretary unveiled a new independent commission on social care on Friday but proposals will not emerge until 2028. "I'm very disappointed and slightly alarmed at this long timescale. It means elderly people and disabled people won't get the care they need and their famililes will suffer too," Mr Davey said.

Three members of Sara Sharif's family have been found guilty over the 10-year-old's death after years of horrific abuse. The UK is in the grip of a wintry spell of weather, with the Met Office issuing two fresh amber warnings for snow and ice for parts of England and Wales over the weekend. Snow has already been spotted in Conwy Valley in Wales.
An amber warning for snow and rare freezing rain covering most of Wales and central England, including the Midlands and the north-west cities of Liverpool and Manchester, is in place from 6pm on Saturday to midday on Sunday, the Met Office said.
