Matty Healy, lead singer of the 1975, has announced his engagement to model Gabbriette Bechtel, whom he began dating in September 2023, just a few months after ending a brief fling with Taylor Swift.

Known for his controversial remarks, including racist jokes towards Ice Spice and claiming that dating Swift would "emasculate" him, Healy's engagement was revealed following a Charli XCX concert in Brooklyn on June 11th.

Bechtel shared a photo of her unique black engagement ring on Instagram, captioning it with a playful reference to Charli XCX’s latest album.

Healy's mother, Denise Welch, expressed her joy over the engagement on ITV’s Loose Women, noting the custom-made black diamond ring.
