Kuwait Building Fire: Gas Cylinders, Locked Doors: The Tragic Prelude to Kuwait’s Devastating Blaze
In a heart-wrenching incident, at least 45 Indians were among the 49 people killed when a devastating fire swept through a labour housing facility in Kuwait’s Mangaf area early Wednesday.
The tragedy has cast a spotlight on the appalling living conditions faced by migrant workers in the Gulf region.
An Indian Air Force aircraft brought the mortal remains of the victims back to India, with 24 of the deceased being from Kerala.
The arrival of the remains at Kochi Airport was met by grieving families who are struggling to come to terms with their loss.
India has responded after a viral video showed US deportees, including Indians, crying for help from a hotel in Panama where they are being held. The Indian embassy in Panama confirmed that the migrants are safe, have access to basic amenities, and are under consular support.
