Kuwait Building Fire: Three Arrests Made By Kuwaiti Authorities In The Tragic Fire Incident
Kuwaiti authorities have detained three individuals on suspicion of manslaughter following a devastating fire that killed dozens of Indian migrant workers and plunged their families and friends into mourning.
The blaze, which broke out around dawn on Wednesday in the Mangaf area, also claimed the lives of three Filipinos among the 50 dead, according to officials in Manila.
The six-storey building, heavily populated with migrant labourers, was engulfed in black smoke as the fire swept through the ground floor.
Most of Kuwait's population of over four million comprises foreigners, many from South and Southeast Asia working in construction and service industries.
Duterte reportedly sought asylum in China amid fears of an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest. China has denied media reports that former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte sought asylum in the country before his arrest on March 11, 2025. Beijing's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Guo Jiakun, stated that neither Duterte nor his family submitted an asylum request. Duterte was detained in Manila following an ICC warrant for crimes against humanity related to his controversial war on drugs, which led to thousands of extrajudicial killings.
