Kuwait Building Fire: Three Arrests Made By Kuwaiti Authorities In The Tragic Fire Incident
Kuwaiti authorities have detained three individuals on suspicion of manslaughter following a devastating fire that killed dozens of Indian migrant workers and plunged their families and friends into mourning.
The blaze, which broke out around dawn on Wednesday in the Mangaf area, also claimed the lives of three Filipinos among the 50 dead, according to officials in Manila.
The six-storey building, heavily populated with migrant labourers, was engulfed in black smoke as the fire swept through the ground floor.
Most of Kuwait's population of over four million comprises foreigners, many from South and Southeast Asia working in construction and service industries.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to Kuwait, met with Abdullah Al Baroun and Abdul Lateef Al Nesef, the individuals behind the Arabic translations of India's epic tales, the Ramayana and Mahabharata. In a heartfelt gesture, PM Modi signed copies of these translated works and expressed his admiration for their cultural significance. The visit also included interactions with the vibrant Indian diaspora in Kuwait, strengthening India-Kuwait ties.
