The United States has reportedly increased its drone missions near Crimea after Russian forces advanced in eastern Ukraine and made territorial gains.
On June 11, a US Northrop Grumman MQ-4C Triton reconnaissance drone was spotted patrolling the airspace over international waters in the Black Sea near Crimea.
However, it sent an emergency signal before landing on the Italian island of Sicily, according to Flightradar24.
On June 4, a similar incident was reported involving the US Air Force’s RQ-4B Global Hawk reconnaissance drone.
RIA Novosti reported that the drone went off the radar during a mission above the Black Sea, near Crimea.
