There are 1 000 great works of literature so far and the list is growing more and more because literature is about those considered to have creative or artistic merit or lasting value and deemed to have intellectual value.

The greatest works of literature comprises of eight main sections.

These are Ancient literature, medieval Literature, renaissance literature, 18th century, 19th-century, early 20th century, late 20th century and recent publications.

To save you time instead of naming all 1 000 works of great literature.

I am going to just name few novels and authors from the eight sections spanning from ancient time to the present day.

( Please This is not a list of the greatest novels which is a very heated debate topic).
