Sarah Michelle Gellar is joining the 'Dexter' family!
The Emmy winner has signed onto 'Dexter: Original Sin,' which follows a young Dexter Morgan played by Patrick Gibson as he becomes an avenging serial killer in Miami.

The actor who worked six decades in Hollywood died Thursday in Miami after a long illness. One of his five children, actor Kiefer Sutherland, wrote on social media, "With a heavy heart, I tell you that my father, Donald Sutherland, has passed away. I personally think one of the most important actors in the history of film. Never daunted by a role, good, bad or ugly. He loved what he did and did what he loved, and one can never ask for more than that. A life well lived."

The cast of the 'Dexter' prequel series, 'Dexter: Original Sin,' has been revealed. Patrick Gibson (of 'Shadow and Bone'), Christian Slater (of 'Mr. Robot') and Molly Brown (of 'Senior Year') have been tapped to star in the prequel to the hit Showtime series that aired from 2006 to 2013. The series set in 1991 Miami will see Gibson play a young Dexter, as he goes from student to avenging serial killer. Slater will portray his father, Harry. And Brown will play his sister, Debra.
