Heart's Ann Wilson Announces Cancer Diagnosis, Screenwriter Robert Towne Dead at 89, UB40 Kicks Off 'Red Red Wine' 45th Annivers
Heart's Ann Wilson reveals cancer diagnosis, postponing current tour.
The rock singer announced in a statement on Tuesday that she had undergone an operation where cancer was discovered.
While in recovery following the successful surgery, Wilson will undergo rounds of preventive chemotherapy as advised by her doctors, taking a break from Heart's current 'Royal Flush' tour which was scheduled to run through the end of the year.
Wilson remains hopeful that she will return to the stage next year, writing 'I really do wish we could do these gigs.
Please know that I absolutely plan to be back on stage in 2025.'
Oscar-winning screenwriter Robert Towne dies at 89.
Best known for his award winning work on the 1974 film Chinatown , Oscar winner Robert Towne passed away on Monday at his home in Los Angeles.
Towne is considered to be one of the greats in Hollywood, having written the screenplays for other films such as The Last Detail , Shampoo , and Greystoke , all of which he earned Oscar nominations for.
He also had a hand in iconic films such as The Godfather , Bonnie and Clyde , and Heaven Can Wait .
UB40 kicks off 'Red Red Wine' 45th anniversary tour in NYC.
UB40 is celebrating a landmark anniversary by kicking off a brand new tour, which played its first U.S. gig last night at Sony Hall in NYC.
The reggae/pop band will travel across the United States through mid August before making stops in Canada, the UK, and more.
The tour comes shortly after the release of their 45th anniversary album UB45, which was released in April.
