Mescal is in advanced talks to star in Scott's next movie, which is expected to shoot in 2025 after the filmmaker completes work on an untitled Bee Gees movie at Paramount. 'The Dog Stars' will see Scott work with 20th Century Studios.

During a conversation at the Directors Guild of America in Los Angeles, Mescal's 'Gladiator II' director Ridley Scott let slip that the actor may have some scheduling conflicts for their next film collaboration. In a conversation with Christopher Nolan, the filmmaker Scott asked if Mescal is set to star in his upcoming thriller feature 'The Dog Stars.' Scott confirmed this as true before correcting himself and explaining that Mescal's schedule may prevent the 'Gladiator II' pair from reuniting on the new film. According to Scott, the actor is set to star in Sony Pictures' Beatles movies for director Sam Mendes.
