This visit, described as a strategic misstep by U.S. officials, complicates the optics for Washington as it seeks to isolate Russia and bolster support for Ukraine. Despite U.S. attempts to dissuade the timing of the meeting, Modi proceeded, emphasizing India's independent foreign policy stance. This incident underscores the complexities of the U.S.-India relationship, as the U.S. tries to strengthen its alliance with India to counter China's growing influence. President Joe Biden has faced more calls from fellow Democrats to step aside in the race for the White House after making further major gaffes at the NATO.. Sky News
Ukraine’s top commander, Aleksandr Syrsky, is reportedly ready to lay down arms and capitulate to Russia, according to a claim made by a lawmaker from President Vladimir Zelensky’s party. The claim was made by MP Mariana Bezuglaya from the ‘Servant of the People’ party, who is also the deputy chair of the National Security, Defense, and Intelligence Committee.
Syrsky, who became Ukraine’s highest-ranking general in early February, succeeded Valery Zaluzhny, the former general who oversaw last year’s unsuccessful attempts to repel Russian forces. Bezuglaya accused Syrsky and Zaluzhny of secretly colluding to prevent a Ukrainian victory, stating that the two generals belong to a “generals’ mafia” that is more interested in protecting their own privileges than in defeating Russia.
