Medics at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool, continue to treat victims of Monday’s stabbing attack in Southport, where Merseyside Police confirm the death of a third child.
A 17-year-old male remains in police custody – on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

Two children have died after several people were stabbed in Southport, north of Liverpool, on Monday morning. Nine other children have been injured. Merseyside Police Chief Constable Serena Kennedy said the children attacked in Southport had been attending a Taylor Swift event at a dance hall.

Local residents in Southport have been left shocked after a knife attack on Tuesday left three children dead. Local resident and mother Leanne Hassan said her daughter's nursery was put into lockdown following the incident. Southport MP Patrick Hurley says the whole town is in "shock and mourning" following the stabbing attack which left two children dead and nine others with critical injuries.
