Kerala's Landslide Risks: Kerala's 10 districts among top 30 most landslide-prone in India |OneIndia
Ten of the total 14 districts in Kerala are among the 30 most landslide-prone districts in the country, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) noted in its 2023 report, raising alarm over the increasing vulnerability of the Western Ghats.
But it has not slowed down the pace of development in the sensitive region, setting it up for one disaster after another, experts say.
The risk assessment led by the Hyderabad-based National Remote Sensing Centre ranked Thrissur third among the most vulnerable districts after Rudraprayag and Tehri Garhwal in Uttarakhand.
